If you need to move your car a long distance you have a number of different options for transporting it. Obviously as long as it works fine you could drive it across the country and I would argue this is the most enjoyable way to get the job done. This is not always a good option though especially if you have a classic car, non-street legal model or there is some other reason that you cannot drive it on the highway for long distances.
You could also check into car dolly rental rates to see if renting a tow dolly would be an effective and affordable way to transport the vehicle. With a car dolly you will need another vehicle to pull the dolly with but if you have a pickup truck and need to tow a smaller car then this setup could work quite well.
Another way to get the job done is to rent a car carrier which is a special trailer designed for carrying cars. You could also use a flat bed trailer but car carriers are a bit more specialized for the purpose and may work better depending on what type of car you have to tow.
